Planning for December 8th @ Mangos. Price to be $25 per person, 25 person minimum. Meeting time is 5:00pm
Mangos has not returned our calls for confirmation. We are working on a backup plan for similar caliber restaurants, Second Ave Pier, Mr. Fish, or the Olive Garden on 501.
Ron
suggested that House of Blues would be good and plans to check
availability.
We are on their list to be included in the schedule for next year if they get the use of the Kalamazoo airplane again.
Wayne will be putting his Rans project in the work room to "lay claim" to the space.
We need to fix the leaking gutter before we put anything in there.
Drop ceiling tiles, doors / door locks, and work benches / tables are needed to make the space useable.
Possible sources of repair materials were discussed. Ron will follow-up with the County for surplus supplies. Doug has some connection to Habitat for humanity that might have materials for us to use. Ollies in Carolina forest was also suggested for inexpensive materials.
Ron suggested that we use combination code door handles; this met with wide approval as it allows wide member access without numerous keys or contacts to track down.
Ron noted that he now has some small part (under about 2ft square) powder coating capability. Carl also has access to similar size powder coating equipment.
The Chapter voted to allow up to $300 to be spent in preparation of the build room for use.
With the results of this years fly-in we discussed options for moving the event. In the past there has been two fly-ins per year, April and November. For the last few years we've only held the November event. There were suggestions of September or October as Fall possibilities but most agree that the weather and lack of competition point towards the 4th Saturday in April.
We will take a closer look at the April date and plan accordingly.
With
the quantity of food left over this year we discussed a move away
from BBQ to serve up Shrimp Boil to better control costs and
leftovers.
we had some good response to the Shrimp Boil idea.
Breakfast club fly-in moved to May 4th at Hardee Air Park.
Ron spoke about county personal property taxes on aircraft and is seeking information about people keeping their airplanes out of the county / state to avoid the taxes.
Adjourned meeting.
